Title: Pharmacogenomics marker for future personalized medicines
Pharmacogenomics is the combination of pharmacology and genomics. In this field drug affecting gene is studied. A pharmacogenomic marker can be any DNA or RNA variation which is responsible for responding against any drug. Drug metabolism in host is carried out by enzymes within the body through biotransformation converting it into water soluble form. In case of drug resistance, the cells withstand the effect of drug . These markers can ease out the personalized treatment by identifying drug and gene response understanding developing resistance against drug in different persons. It can also open pathways for new drug development. Pharmacogenomic markers can be used to stuy drug susceptibility among public and experimental datasets. Public databases such as Genomic of drug sensitivity in cancer (GDSC) and PharmacoDB offers large collection of datasets . These datasets are generated through high throughput drug screening. These datasets are used to develop and validate predictive models for drug response. The experimental datasets can be generated through experiments from genome wide association studies (GWAS), Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and cancer cell line encyclopedia (CCLE). These datasets often provide information on toxicity and efficacy against drug. After data extraction the data can be studied using statistical tool, which can provide a genralised drug response. These can be use to create a library to compare drug response among individuals and provide personalized treatment to patients. This is most required apporach of biotechnology to revolutionize medicine.
